The Singapore Microscopy and Optics Seminars were formed from the
merger
of the Singapore Microscopy & Fluorescence Techniques Seminar Series
and the Optics seminars. The latter were being organized by student chapter
of Optical Society of America (OSA) at NUS.

The goal is to
expand the
scope
of subjects from which talks are presented
and to engage researchers
from
diverse areas
related
to optics and
microscopy from all institutions in Singapore.
It was all started due
to the high quality of people working within the field in
Singapore. It provides a
forum to regularly meet, hear about one another's
work and to socially interact.
We will have a monthly seminar in which two speakers will talk about techniques
and their application. Students, postdocs, PIs and visiting academics are all welcome to
contribute. In this way we can all learn something and help stimulate new ideas
or collaboration.
The seminars started in February 2009.
If you are interested in speaking and sharing your work with this community please
contact Graham Wright at
or Shalin Mehta at
. If you are interested in attending then please
just turn up to the next seminar and add yourself to the mailing list.
